AES Eletropaulo
Brazil, as the largest country in Latin America, requires a great deal of power to be distributed within its borders. AES Eletropaulo has operated facilities in an effort to meet this need since 1997, and as a consequence has acquired over 5 million customers and title of "largest electricity distribution company" in Latin America.
AES both distributes energy in Brazil and generates it. AES has directs and owns two fully-operational power companies in Brazil. One of these companies, AES Tietê, channels all of its energy through AES Eletropaulo. AES Tietê's generation capacity (2,650 MW) accounts for 21% of Brazil's total power generation capability.
AES Eletropaulo and Reforestation
AES Tietê maintains its own nursery along the banks of the Tietê river, and native seeds cultivated there have been used to further a reforestation project which is expected to extend 10,000 hectares. The reforestation project, sponsored by AES, projects to remove millions of metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions from the atmosphere.
AES has a long history of acting out of environmental concern. Its efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions stem from its 1987 action of planting 50 million trees in Guatemala. AES' commitment to the environment and to the preservation of the natural resources in Latin America is a testament to the international company's marked dedication in the face of global climate change.
AES Eletropaulo and Customer Service
AES Eletropaulo has won several awards for customer service. AES Eletropaulo won the Customer Service Award from the Brazilian Association of Teleservices three years running. In 2007, AES Eletropaulo teamed up with Avaya Intelligent Communications. With its new strategic partner, AES was able to improve their customer service by reducing customer call waiting time. As the largest power distributive company in Brazil, AES Eletropaulo needed a partner that would help them better approach customer service issues. Avaya's Consultant and Systems Integration team helped AES Eletropaulo begin to utilize cutting-edge technological solutions to customer care issues.
